Aiken, Bowie are among casino memories

Borrowing from Vegas
A mini-trend developed this year as once again the local casinos borrowed a page from the Las Vegas playbook and brought in solo acts for the kind of extended runs usually reserved for production shows.
Classic rock interpreter Jimmy Hopper had a few interesting moments at Harrah's and his fellow Vegas-based entertainer, impressionist Stephen Sorrentino, offered a fair amount of laughs at Tropicana. But the best of the trio by far was the multi-talented Tony Pace, whose six-month run at Resorts' neat little Screening Room theater was a real treat. One can only imagine how high Pace can rocket in the show business firmament with a big budget and somewhat higher profile venue. Here's hoping some local gaming hall offers Pace both in the near future.
